My primary interest is in the portrayal of the urban environment and the entertainments found within the city. Combining the past with the present is a running theme throughout my work regardless of the subject matter and I enjoy contrasting figurative painting with more abstract elements.
The fashion world and its imagery are also a source of inspiration, I am interested in the contrast between the human figure and the textures and patterns of textiles. I enjoy the fantasy aspect of fashion so I like to elaborate on this within my work by placing the figure within a highly decorative background which is ambiguous, it could be seen as reality or a theatrical backdrop.
