Taking everything extremely personally, Schuyler Hazard is relentless in her approach to un-romanticize the events of her life. She copes with her Manic Depression, the loss of her Mother, her rape, and many other difficult-to-stomach experiences by willing raw emotion onto the canvas. Her only goal as an artist is to make the viewer feel what it is like to be her, faults and privileges – her only goal as an artist is to obtain the empathy she so longs for.
