Perennials – lilies, larkspur, daisies – come back year after year. Spring may be slow in coming, but we can rely on the seasons turning, the earth warming, the days getting longer. The big thaw is inevitable.
For this themed issue of the Columbia Journal, we want to hear your thoughts of, and stories about, change, growth, and adaptation. Are you concerned about the environment? Do you have an anecdote about a personal metamorphosis? What’s the alternative history of a world where Darwin never pointed to an origin of species? Please submit to us, from April 18th to April 29th (note: deadline extended), your poetry, essays, nonfiction, fiction, translated works, art, music, and film.
Please keep your submissions under 5,000 words (prose) or 5 pages (poetry) or 5 items (all others).

Include your name and a short (300 words or less) in your cover letter. Bios over 300 words will be truncated at the reviewing editor’s discretion.
