Call for Submissions: Veterans Day Special Issue

At the Columbia Journal, we believe that the stories and voices of service members and civilians affected by war should be circulated and contemplated. This November marks our third Veterans Day Special Issue. We hope to honor those who have served, suffered, and survived during times of turmoil. Our website will feature writing and creative expressions inspired by or concerning the military experience. Writers may submit poetry, nonfiction, fiction, and art until October 31st, 2019.

Selected contributors in each category will be compensated $50. Submission is free.

(Note: this category is open to submissions from veterans and civilians alike.) Please keep your submissions under 5,000 words (prose) or 5 pages (poetry). Your submission should be in a DOC, DOCX, PDF, TXT, or RTF file format. Include your name and a short (300 words or less) bio should be included in the cover letter. Bios over 300 words will be truncated at the reviewing editor’s discretion. More information and links to submit can be found here.
